Volunteers fight cancer one cup of lemonade at a time

At only eight years old, Alex Scott died from neuroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer, but not before creating her own legacy, and raising more than $1 million for childhood cancer research.

That was in 2004, but 12 years later that legacy lives on in the form of Alex’s Lemonade Stand, a national foundation.
On Saturday, volunteers set up 13 lemonade stands across Bowling Green, asking only that people make a small donation to the foundation, which will go directly to grants that help further childhood cancer research.

One of the lemonade stands was set up at Pop Works, where Hallie Earnhart was volunteering her Saturday.
