The Global Peace Film Festival – September 17-22, 2024

The Global Peace Film Festival, an annual event held in Orlando, Florida since 2003, is a powerful platform that uses the medium of film to promote peace and environmentalism. Rather than viewing “peace” as merely the absence of conflict, the festival embraces it as a framework for channeling, processing, and resolving conflicts through respectful and non-violent means.

Showcasing Films from Around the World

The festival has showcased over 800 films from diverse corners of the globe. These films span various genres, including documentaries, narrative full-length features, and short films. By bringing together filmmakers, special guests, and local activists, the festival educates attendees about the transformative power of film in promoting both global peace and individual well-being.

Anchored Around International Day of Peace

The Global Peace Film Festival is anchored around the International Day of Peace (also known as “Peace Day”), which falls on September 21st. For 4-5 days in Orlando, Florida, the festival celebrates peace through screenings, discussions, and community engagement. In recent years, the festival has also added a virtual component, showcasing an entirely different lineup of films during the week following the live event.

Founder and Current Festival Director

Nina Streich, the festival’s founder, continues to lead the charge as the current Festival Director. Her vision and commitment have shaped the festival into a dynamic platform for positive change.
