The Home Depot Foundation Commits Up to $2 Million for Hurricane Helene Relief

The Home Depot Foundation has announced a significant commitment of up to $2 million to support immediate disaster relief efforts in communities impacted by Hurricane Helene. This initiative underscores the Foundation’s dedication to aiding those affected by natural disasters and ensuring swift recovery and rebuilding.

Mobilizing Resources for Immediate Relief

The Foundation’s nonprofit partners are already on the ground, mobilizing teams and resources to assess damage, deliver relief supplies, and begin cleanup and repairs. Key partners include:

  • Convoy of Hope and Operation Blessing: These organizations are establishing bases of operation across the Southeast to distribute essential items such as food, water, hygiene products, and cleaning supplies to impacted communities.
  • World Central Kitchen: Providing meals in Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina to support those affected by the hurricane.
  • American Red Cross: Opening shelters to support over 9,000 people in the hardest-hit areas.
  • Team Rubicon and Inspiritus: Conducting damage assessments and assisting with debris removal from roadways.
  • ToolBank Disaster Services: Supplying tools and equipment to local organizations to aid in cleanup efforts.

Team Depot’s Volunteer Efforts

Team Depot, The Home Depot’s associate volunteer force, is actively involved in the relief efforts. Volunteers are donating relief supplies to nonprofits, first responders, and government agencies. They will be on the ground in the coming days and weeks to help clean up in local communities across North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, and Georgia, including The Home Depot’s hometown of Atlanta.

Supporting Employees and Communities

The Homer Fund, The Home Depot’s employee assistance fund, is providing immediate financial support to impacted associates in need of safe housing, food, and clothing while displaced. This initiative ensures that The Home Depot’s employees are also taken care of during this challenging time.

A Legacy of Support

Erin Izen, executive director of The Home Depot Foundation, expressed the Foundation’s commitment: “Our thoughts are with the communities that have been impacted by Hurricane Helene. The Foundation and Team Depot are working alongside our disaster relief partners to assist the people and areas impacted by this catastrophic storm.”

The Home Depot Foundation has a long history of supporting communities impacted by natural disasters. Since 2011, the Foundation has invested more than $500 million in veteran causes and improved over 60,000 veteran homes and facilities. The Foundation has pledged to invest $750 million in veteran causes by 2030 and $50 million in training the next generation of skilled tradespeople through the Path to Pro program by 2028.
