The Women of Global Change (WGC) continues to make significant strides in empowering communities across the globe. With chapters in Southern California, Uganda, Malaysia, the Philippines, Atlanta, Seattle, Vancouver, Las Vegas, and beyond, WGC is dedicated to creating sustainable change through a variety of initiatives.
Founded by Dr. Dame Shellie Hunt, WGC is more than just a charity; it is a movement aimed at transforming lives. “At Women of Global Change, we don’t just make a difference—we create a movement,” says Hunt. “I am incredibly proud of the work our chapters are doing, whether it’s providing shoes to children in Las Vegas, giving school clothing and scholarships in Uganda, or supporting education initiatives in Malaysia. Together, we are changing the world.”
One of the organization’s most impactful projects is the “Ship the Shoes” initiative. In Southern California, Richard Keller, CEO of Autoparts.com, donated over $100,000 worth of shoes, which were distributed to communities across the United States. This initiative symbolizes hope and provides essential resources to children, young adults, and families facing economic hardship.
WGC’s commitment to education is also evident in its scholarship programs. In Uganda, the organization provides school clothing and scholarships, ensuring that children have the opportunity to pursue their education. In Malaysia, WGC supports various educational initiatives, furthering its mission to empower individuals through knowledge.

In Atlanta, the chapter led by Carole Cheatam collaborates with organizations like Covenant House to support homeless teens. The chapter empowers women by offering networking, educational, and leadership development opportunities. “We are creating a network of women who are determined to change the world around them,” says Cheatam. “Whether we’re supporting teenagers who are unhoused, organizing educational events, or making sure a young person has a pair of shoes to wear, our work is truly about people helping people.”
WGC’s global reach and diverse initiatives demonstrate the power of community and the difference that even small acts of kindness can make.
