TYSONS, Va. — The PenFed Foundation for Military Heroes has awarded a $50,000 Military Heroes Grant to the Vantage Point Foundation to support its Veteran Leadership Course (VLC), a transformative program designed to help post-9/11 veterans transition successfully into civilian life.
The VLC, based in South Carolina, combines intensive in-person sessions with six months of virtual training, all provided free of charge. The grant will enable the program to serve 70 veterans across three cohorts—Fall 2025, Spring 2026, and Summer 2026.
“We are proud to support Vantage Point Foundation and their vital work in empowering veterans and military spouses,” said Andrea McCarren, President of the PenFed Foundation for Military Heroes. “Their Veteran Leadership Course aligns perfectly with PenFed’s commitment to helping veterans find purpose and achieve success in their civilian lives.”
Founded in 2001 and affiliated with PenFed Credit Union, the PenFed Foundation has provided over $55 million in financial support to veterans, active-duty service members, and military families. The credit union covers most administrative costs, ensuring that donations directly benefit programs like VLC.
Mark Holyfield, Executive Director of Vantage Point Foundation, expressed gratitude for the grant, stating, “This support allows us to expand our reach and continue guiding veterans toward leadership roles in their communities.”
The VLC begins with a three-day in-person experience, followed by six months of virtual engagement focused on personal growth, leadership development, and community impact. The program is tailored to meet the unique needs of post-9/11 veterans, helping them navigate the challenges of reintegration and build meaningful civilian lives.
