PMI U.S. Donates $100,000 to Connecticut Foodshare in Honor of Hunger Action Month

STAMFORD, Conn. — Philip Morris International’s U.S. businesses (PMI U.S.) marked Hunger Action Month with a $100,000 donation to Connecticut Foodshare, a nonprofit dedicated to fighting food insecurity across the state.

The contribution, announced Sept. 16, will help provide nearly 200,000 meals to individuals and families in need. More than 516,000 Connecticut residents — including one in six children — face food insecurity, according to the organization.

“Connecticut Foodshare provides hope and nourishment to thousands of families,” said Stacey Kennedy, CEO of PMI U.S. “During Hunger Action Month, we’re reminded of the importance of their work and mission. This is an example of our pragmatic philanthropy in action.”

The donation aligns with PMI U.S.’s corporate citizenship priorities, which focus on supporting under-resourced populations, strengthening communities, and forming partnerships that drive measurable impact.

Jason Jakubowski, president and CEO of Connecticut Foodshare, expressed gratitude for the support. “With the rising cost of living and ongoing challenges many people face, the demand for food assistance is significant. This donation will have a positive impact on the lives of individuals and families who rely on our services,” he said.

Connecticut Foodshare, established in 1982, distributes healthy food through more than 480 food banks, community kitchens, shelters, and over 100 mobile pantry locations statewide.

PMI U.S. staff also volunteered at Connecticut Foodshare as part of the initiative, reinforcing the company’s hands-on approach to community engagement.
