Law enforcement officers are through the roof trying to make a difference for Special Olympics.
Cop on a Rooftop took place Friday with officers on the rooftops of 46 Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants across the state.
The mission is to heighten awareness and raise money for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Wisconsin. An officer stands on the roof with a bucket that they can lower for guests to put donations in.
In addition to community donations, the doughnut chain will donate $5,000. Last year’s event raised over $46,000 from atop 40 Dunkin’ Donuts rooftops.
We caught up with one officer in De Pere who said it’s a great cause, not just for the athletes but the officers as well.
“It’s a great cause not only for law enforcement to do it on a different level of policing but just interacting with the community,” said Community Resource Office Jedd Bradley of the De Pere Police Dept. “I think it’s a great opportunity for us and we couldn’t be more happy.”
