Save The Music Foundation and Sweetwater, the No. 1 online retailer for music makers, have announced a new partnership aimed at increasing access to music education in schools, particularly those in historically under-resourced communities. This collaboration includes a $25,000 contribution from Sweetwater, which will be used to support Save The Music’s J Dilla Music Technology Grant program.
The J Dilla Music Technology Grant program is designed to bring modern music production techniques into schools, helping students explore their creativity and talent through electronic music creation, recording, and production. The grants have been awarded to 42 schools across the United States, including high schools in cities like Atlanta, Los Angeles, and New York, as well as middle schools in various other locations.
Sweetwater’s contribution goes beyond financial support; the company also provides logistics expertise to ensure that the schools receive the necessary equipment in a timely manner. This partnership addresses the challenges that public schools often face in securing resources for music programs, especially during the back-to-school season.
Danielle Zalaznick, Deputy Executive Director & Chief Development Officer at Save The Music, emphasized the importance of this initiative: “Given the current and historic challenges public schools face in securing resources for music programs, we see the opportunity and responsibility to address those needs.” Sweetwater’s Chief People and Culture Officer, Jeff Ostermann, added, “Empowering the next generation of music makers is at the core of our mission at Sweetwater, so it was a natural fit to support Save The Music Foundation through the J Dilla Music Tech Grant program.”
The partnership between Save The Music Foundation and Sweetwater is a testament to their shared commitment to enhancing music education and providing students with the tools they need to succeed. By working together, these organizations aim to make a lasting impact on the lives of young musicians and help them reach their full potential.
