Splenda Celebrates Diabetes Awareness Month with “25 Families for 25 Years” Giveaway

Splenda, a leading brand in sugar-free wellness, has announced the final seven recipients of its “25 Families for 25 Years” giveaway in honor of Diabetes Awareness Month. This initiative celebrates Splenda’s 25th anniversary by supporting families affected by diabetes with a $2,500 donation to each selected family. This campaign underscores Splenda’s commitment to helping people reduce their sugar intake and live healthier lives.

For over two decades, Splenda has been at the forefront of innovation, offering a variety of products that make it easier for people to enjoy their favorite foods and drinks without the added sugar. The “25 Families for 25 Years” campaign is a heartfelt way for Splenda to give back to the community that has supported it throughout the years. The monetary donations are intended to assist with medical expenses related to diabetes, alleviating some of the everyday pressures faced by these families.

The final seven honorees of this campaign come from diverse backgrounds and have unique stories of resilience and strength:

  1. Cody Ayotte (Palm Springs, CA): Cody and his mother take their prediabetes diagnoses seriously, especially after the loss of his brother due to diabetes complications. They work to educate Cody’s children about the importance of a healthy lifestyle, which includes regular bloodwork and doctor visits.
  2. Rohan Dhamane (Baltimore, MD): Rohan nominated his father, who has managed diabetes for over 25 years and relies on Splenda as part of his daily routine. The donation will help Rohan invest in health and fitness to spend more quality time with his family.
  3. Denean Faulkner (Philadelphia, PA): Denean, who manages her Type 2 diabetes by baking with Splenda, appreciates the financial relief the donation provides. As she is disabled and unable to work, this support is particularly meaningful.
  4. Shabria Green (Houston, TX): Shabria is adjusting to a new normal after a surprising Type 1 diabetes diagnosis. Her routine now includes reading food and nutrition labels, finding low-calorie versions of her favorite treats, and regular doctor appointments.
  5. Patricia Stacho (Melvindale, MI): Nominated by her granddaughter, Patricia lost her leg due to complications from Type 2 diabetes. She plans to use the donation to receive a custom prosthetic, which will significantly improve her quality of life.
  6. Dana da Silva (Fort Lauderdale, FL): Dana, who lost her job during the COVID-19 pandemic, supports her two children who manage Type 1 diabetes. The donation will alleviate some of the financial strains her family faces.
  7. Kevin Suddoth (Midlothian, IL): Kevin nominated his father, who has experienced 80% vision loss in one eye due to diabetes complications. The donation will help purchase services to ease his father’s daily life.

Beth Ruge, Senior Director of Healthcare Marketing with Heartland Food Products Group, expressed pride in highlighting the resilience and strength of these families. As Splenda closes this milestone giveaway, the brand continues to support and celebrate the diabetes community, reinforcing its mission to help people live healthier, happier lives.

This campaign not only marks a significant milestone for Splenda but also brings attention to the ongoing challenges faced by those living with diabetes. By providing financial support, Splenda hopes to make a meaningful difference in the lives of these families, helping them manage their health and well-being more effectively.
