Virtual, Inc. and Team Russo Step Up to the Plate to Strike Out Cancer at Fenway

BOSTON — Fenway Park, the historic home of the Boston Red Sox, transformed into a field of hope and resilience on Sept. 20 as Virtual, Inc. and Team Russo joined forces for the annual Jimmy Fund Day, raising critical funds for cancer research and patient care.

Virtual, Inc., a leading provider of professional services for membership-based organizations, continued its 18-year tradition of supporting Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s Jimmy Fund Day at Fenway, presented by DraftKings. The event offers patients and supporters a rare opportunity to play on the field while contributing to the fight against cancer.

Since its inception in 1992, Jimmy Fund Day has raised more than $9 million, with Team Russo contributing over $2 million to that total. The team was founded by Bob Russo, former general manager of the PCI Security Standards Council, in honor of his son Rob, a longtime Dana-Farber patient whose battle with a rare stomach cancer inspired many.

“Supporting Jimmy Fund Day is incredibly meaningful for all of us at Virtual and reflects our commitment to helping organizations make their mark on the world,” said Andy Freed, CEO of Virtual, Inc. “Over the years, our involvement has become deeply personal — from witnessing the courage of patients like Rob Russo, to experiencing our own battles with cancer”.

Caitlin Fink, vice president of the Jimmy Fund, praised Virtual’s enduring support. “We’re grateful to Virtual, Inc. for their 18+ years of generosity at Jimmy Fund Day. We are thrilled to have them on our team as we work together to lessen the burden of cancer for patients and their families”.

The Jimmy Fund, established in 1948, is the official charity of the Boston Red Sox and supports Dana-Farber’s mission to provide compassionate care and groundbreaking research for children and adults. Dana-Farber is a top-ranked cancer hospital and a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School.

As players took the field at Fenway, every swing symbolized a step toward a cancer-free future — a mission that Virtual, Inc. and Team Russo remain committed to year after year.
