WASHINGTON — A coalition of health organizations, nonprofits, and community partners is expanding access to mental wellness education for students across the United States through a collaboration led by Everfi.
The initiative aims to equip students with skills supporting mental health, responsible decision-making, and long-term well-being, as schools respond to rising pressures from social media, academic stress, and substance use challenges.
“Today’s students face increasing pressures—from social media and academic stress to substance use and mental health challenges—making early, preventative education more important than ever,” the organization said in the announcement.
The program integrates wellness and life-skills education into school curricula nationwide, positioning schools as frontline environments for early intervention and resilience-building.
By bringing together cross-sector partners—including healthcare organizations and community groups—the effort reflects a growing recognition that student well-being requires coordinated, community-wide support systems.
Heartitude Founder Bruce Petillo said initiatives like this demonstrate how proactive investment in young people strengthens entire communities. “When we equip students with tools for mental wellness early, we’re not just helping individuals—we’re shaping a more resilient, compassionate society,” Petillo said.
