North Island Credit Union Foundation Awards Scholarships to San Diego Students

The North Island Credit Union Foundation has awarded ten $1,000 scholarships to college-bound students in San Diego County as part of its annual College Scholarship Program. The recipients were honored at a celebratory reception held at North Island Credit Union on April 22, 2025.

The scholarship program, established in 2005, aims to recognize exceptional students who demonstrate academic excellence and community involvement. This year’s recipients include students from various high schools across the county, such as San Diego High School, Valhalla High School, and Mar Vista High School.

“We are proud to recognize this year’s outstanding scholarship recipients, whose hard work, determination, and commitment to their education truly set them apart,” said Marvel Ford, President of North Island Credit Union Foundation. “These students represent the bright future of our communities, and we’re honored to support them as they take the next steps in their academic journeys. We believe in the power of education to transform lives, and through these scholarships, we’re investing in the potential of tomorrow’s leaders.”

Since its inception, the scholarship program has awarded over $455,000 to students across San Diego, Riverside, Los Angeles, Orange, and Ventura counties. Eligible participants include college-bound high school seniors and community college students transferring to four-year universities, maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0.

The North Island Credit Union Foundation operates as the philanthropic arm of North Island Credit Union, a division of California Credit Union, which serves San Diego and Riverside Counties. California Credit Union was named a Forbes Best-In-State Credit Union in 2024.
