OtterBox Hosts Ninth Annual Volunteer Day

Otter Products, the maker of OtterBox, announced its ninth annual closed2open volunteer event, set to take place on May 15. The company will pause all operations for the day, allowing employees to volunteer with local organizations through the OtterCares Foundation.

OtterBox employees will engage in various community projects, including park clean-ups, food bank support, and school refresh initiatives. Since the inception of closed2open in 2017, employees have volunteered over 39,000 hours on this single day of giving.

“Our closed2open event is the backbone of who we are,” said OtterBox CEO Trey Northrup. “Giving back is engrained in our DNA, and our employees dedicate time to make a meaningful impact in their communities every year. This event is a testament to their heart and hard work.”

In addition to the annual event, OtterBox employees receive 24 hours of paid time off for volunteering each year. Since 2011, employees have completed more than 148,000 hours of volunteer work, equating to over $3.8 million in value.

The closed2open event in 2024 saw OtterBox employees across 13 countries and four continents contribute 4,300 service hours to their communities. The company encourages participation in volunteer activities throughout the year, supported by the OtterCares’ Dollars for Doers grant program, which has generated over $870,000 for schools and nonprofits since its launch in 2014.
